The said robbers currently in police custody in Douala drug riders before seizing their motorbikes.

Law enforcement officers in the economic capital yesterday picked up Adama Oumarou and Aboubakari around Bucavoyage at Mboppi. The duo was caught on hand with a brand new motorbike reportedly snatched from 30-year-old Mbassa à Moukou. It is reported that the said robbers drugged Mbassa à Moukou who soon dozed off. The method was to use a certain lady, who is still on the run, to seduce the “benskin” rider, then luring him to eat biscuits injected with sleep drugs.

They were arrested as police continued investigations in line with last week’s discovery of a network specialised in stealing and selling bikes. It was in the night of November 22 breaking 23 that the duo, with the help of the undisclosed lady, made away with the bike at the neighbourhood of Bassa in Douala. The victim, who was still receiving medical attention at the Infirmary of the Fire Fighting Brigade, reportedly exclaimed when he found himself yesterday morning at the structure in Ngodi. Until last week-end, Bonanjo police investigation yielded to the arrest of the suspects.

Noteworthy that a few days ago elements of the Mobile Intervention Unit have relented no efforts in the bid to track down the network following the discovery of garages, shops and sales points operated by the alleged robbers. The structures were used essentially to sell, dismantle and change parts of the looted bikes. They fled when the police stormed Bassa early last week. Their possession of the motorbike alleged to have been snatched from Mbassa a night ago gave the forces of law and order a strong clue to gang’s culpability. The detectives said they have clues that will soon lead to the arrest of other members of the network.
