SOPECAM Director for Littoral Installed

Alain Tchakounté was commissioned into his function as Regional Director of SOPECAM for the Littoral on Thursday, December 1.

The Regional Office of the Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation (SOPECAM) in Bonanjo witnessed a new wave of activity. Men and women of the media landscape and the administration took turns to shake hands with the newly commissioned Director, Alain Tchakounté, appointed November 25, shortly after a board meeting of the corporation.

Maurice Sa’a Tchoffou, Secretary General in the Littoral Governor’s Office, commissioned him into his function, in the presence of Olinga Biyo’o, Management Controller and representative of SOPECAM’s General Manager to the ceremony and MINCOM Delegate, Michel Ebongue. Alain Tchakounté underscored his plan of action: “I am aware the task is really important. We have to go forward to get more advertising and partners in order enhance the performance of the corporation; be more rigorous and transparent on the managerial line and work towards the Major Accomplishment of the Head of State.” At 32, Alain Tchakounté is among the youngest to occupy the prestigious post.

The Advanced School of Mass Communication (ASMAC) student began his career with Cameroon Tribune in 2004, where he worked on probation for three months. Being fully employed nine months after in March 2005, he was appointed Chief of the Culture and Society Bureau for the national daily, Cameroon Tribune. In May 2009, he was appointed to head the communication service for the corporation in the Littoral. The soft-spoken journalist, who minces no error with professionalism, made his debut in December 2009 as interim director of SOPECAM for the region until December 2010. Last November 25’s appointment simply brought back Alain Tchakounté to a post he left one year ago, perhaps to begin the trail towards fulfilling his dreams.

Despite his new challenges, the regional boss still finds time for editorial meetings where he hits hard for a continued spirit of professionalism. Among the new challenges are to enhance the corporation’s income through adverts in the economic capital and region; manage in all integrity and transparency resources of the corporation in the region, ensure the diversification of information in all SOPECAM’s publications, accompany and promote the government’s action as well as the “Major Accomplishment” of the Head of State. These challenges may not be new, however, in all its sense since the new boss had previously occupied the same post as interim.
