Recruitment of 25,000 Youths: Selected Candidates Posted

Thousands thronged the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reforms yesterday to identify the ministries where they have been sent.

Its gates have always been overcrowded but the picture it presented yesterday December 5 was spectacular. Thousands of Cameroonians, glued to the notice board, some with pens and papers to take down information on their postings and others constantly on the phone announcing to their relatives and probably love ones that the dream has finally come true. It was a battle for the strong as selected candidates within the framework of the special recruitment of 25,000 certificate holders into the public service pushed from one end to the other to check their service post on the list. As recruits streamed the gates of the Ministry in their numbers, passer-bys and vehicle owners had it difficult to circulate as the entire premise was jam-packed. The atmosphere remained tensed at the entrance to the ministry as all efforts by pressmen and other Cameroonians seeking entry into the outfit only went forward to raise tempers. Between the gateman and non occupants of the ministry, misunderstanding was rife though some candidates finally got their names and the ministries under which they are expected to serve the nation and improve output delivery for a better public service in the country.

The good news was the publication of the list of recently recruited young certificate holders into the public service and their postings. The release of the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, Emmanuel Bonde of December 2, 2011 was inviting recruits to assume service as soon as possible. The press release stipulates that candidates whose names featured on the list have 15 days to take up service without which their contracts will be annulled, especially those who will not present tangible justifications for their lateness. As thousands of recruits continue to throng the ministry, Emmanuel Bonde is firm on the need for recruits to take service.

As selected candidates in the special recruitment of 25,000 workers into the civil service beamed with smiles on their postings, so, also were other youths recruited during the direct competitive examination of 3rd and 4th September 2011. This group constitute 15 veterinary surgeons, 90 journalists, 35 social welfare workers, 50 personnel into the corps of rural production, 30 into the corps of animal industry, 50 computer science and tele-computer experts, 150 forestry workers and 100 industrial technologists.
