The second seminar to retrain pedagogic inspectors and teachers of national languages and cultures opened in Yaounde yesterday.
The process of integrating national languages in the school syllabuses in Cameroon is gradually gaining grounds. It is in this light that a three-day seminar on the retraining of national inspectors of pedagogy and teachers of national languages and culture opened in Yaounde yesterday, January 24. The objective of the seminar is to strengthen the skills of participants in view to making the teaching of national languages and culture a reality in secondary and high schools.
Speaking during the opening, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Secondary Education, Professor Ivo Leke Tambo, called on the participants to work in synergy in order to improve their skills and to make the integration process a success. The workshop is holding under the theme; “Training and integration of languages and culture in school curricular”. For three days, participants will be drilled on topics such as “Reinforcing competences in applied phonetics”, “The mastery of writing of mother tongues”, “Learning the different aspects of national culture”, “Mastery of the grammar of other tongues”, among others. Organised by the Ministry of Secondary Education, the seminar brings together participants from across the country.
