The traditional rulers on January 21 in Bamenda thanked him for appointing Professor Tafah Edocat pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda. 

Traditional rulers from Momo Division of the North West Region on January 21, 2012 in Bamenda commended President Paul Biya for appointing their son, Tafah Edocat Edward as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda. The ‘Fons’ equally stated their unflinching support to the Head of State.

This was the subject of a civic reception offered Prof.Tafah Edocat Edward during which the Fons, Momo elite, Mayors, associations and well wishers cheered the first ever Vice Chancellor as a role model for Momo children. The Union of Momo Fons crowned Prof Tafah Edocat Edward ‘Egheu Fon’ or ‘Eye of Momo Fons.’

Nji Joseph Tarluh, Head of the Economic, Social and Cultural Affairs Division in the North West Governor’s office represented the Governor. All speakers cheered Prof. Tafah for rising to expectation to win the confidence of the Head of State. Momo elite and the Mayors of Oshie, Njikwa and Ngie, wished him well at the helm of the University of Bamenda fondly referred to as ‘the university of the future.’  He was lauded for initiatives that have promoted development in his native Oshie and Momo.

Prof. Tafah Edocat Edward was recruited in the then University of Yaounde in 1981 as lecturer. He later moved to the University of Yaounde II, Soa in 1993 and was appointed Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management in 1993. He later became Director of Human Resources in the Department of Economics. Prof. Tafah rose to the position of Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management in the University of Dschang and later, Deputy Vice Chancellor before his appointment as the Vice Chancellor of the State University of Bamenda.
