The Minister of Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda made the announcement on Saturday in Yaounde.

Over seven million Cameroonians have now received free long-lasting treated mosquito bed nets in the nation-wide distribution programme. Briefing the press in the capital, Yaounde, on Saturday January 27, 2012 on the process, the Minister of Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda said that with this figure, over 80 per cent of the more than 8 million bed nets had been distributed.

He acknowledged that some people had not received the nets, promising that a catch up distribution exercise will soon be launched in Soa on the outskirts of Yaounde. Other challenges encountered included reports of nets being sold and some households not being counted in time for the distribution of nets.

Minister Fouda promised that all is being done to track down the people involved in the illegal sale of free mosquito bed nets.
