The electoral commission on Saturday began releasing the long-awaited results.
The electoral commission in the Democratic Republic of Congo has begun releasing the results of parliamentary elections held last year. Incumbent President Joseph Kabila’s party is in the lead, followed by the party of opposition strongman, Etienne Tshisikedi. Analysts say many more parties are expected to be represented in the new parliament.
The election results were held back following complaints of malpractices by the opposition.
