Minsep Recommends Fresh Impetus

This was during a meeting of officials from the central and decentralised services.

The Minster of Sports and Physical Education, Adoum Garoua, has called on his collaborators to adopt new work habits in line with the recommendations of the Head of State during the December 15 cabinet meeting and re-echoed by the Prime Minister’s circular which have to do with punctuality, rapidity of service, assiduity and probity of character. Quoting the Head of State, Adoum Garoua, said it was time for action not words. The Minister was speaking during a meeting of officials from the central and external services of his ministry at the conference hall of the ministry last Thursday, December 26, 2012.

Work in the ministry, he said, should be guided by the Road Map submitted to the Prime Minister on January 18, 2012 which comprises four programmes, five objectives and 11 priority actions. Some of the major issues on the Road Map include the revision of the National Programme for the Development of Sports Infrastructure, PNDIS, the renewal of the mandates of the executive bureau of sports federations, the completion of the construction of the gymnasiums in Douala and Yaounde among others. The change this time is that, there is a time frame for the achievement of every action and an evaluation of activities will take place every six months.

Officials of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education also resolved to cut the running cost of the ministry notably by reducing energy consumption such as electricity, water and telephone bills while at the same time, improving on the performance of the ministry through better preparation for teams engaged in international competitions and revising the sports policy. Participants equally resolved to hence forth plan activities taking into consideration the new system of drawing up budgets; that is the yearly and programme budgets. The meeting was followed by the presentation of new year wishes to the minister, the next day at the Yaounde Sports Complex.
