From the beautiful wood sculptures, agro-food processing, textile products, pavement tiles from plastic papers, paintings and decoration et al, the region is rich in craft products and lures so many visitors to the show. According to Itamdje Aaron Achilk, Chief of Service for Crafts at the Littoral Regional Delegation of MINPMESSA, the 70 craftsmen were selected from the four Divisions of the region. 20 per Division except for Nkam Division that has 10 flagbearers. Their products are reminiscent of the region’s rich and diverse craftsmanship.
Be it Etoha Marie Edwige involved in dyeing, Essomba Benga epse Yong into textile products, Ngamaleu Toko into jewellery and others, SIARC offers them the opportunity to market their know-how to the rest of the country and world, share and gain experiences, widen their market scope and also to sell. Their outcry, like that of other exhibitors, is the poor prices offered their products by visitors. “Some of the prices are far below the cost of production,” they said. But the contacts created, they hold, make the future promising.
