The 690 scholars, from nursery to the university level, who were selected for the bursaries continue to receive the money for studies in an exercise that is expected to end at the Winner’s Chapel in the Ndogbong neighbourhood next February 5. A package of FCFA 20 million has been set aside for the scheme, supported by the Winners’ Chapel International headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria. Meanwhile, some 300 widows were offered foodstuff, including rice, spaghetti, maggi cubes, among other things. Many of those who received the bursaries have been enlisted for regular support from the church. The offer of bursaries and foodstuffs will be sustained and the church will continue to pray for their spiritual health. Those who had contacts with the church for the first time were given free notebooks.
Regional Pastor and host of the event, Triumphant Obamoh Mega, revealed that a total FCFA 7.5 million was spent to feed the 19,000 people that attended the crusade as a whole. “Our money and other support for charity come not just from our church in Lagos but also from generous individuals,” the man of God told Cameroon Tribune. The gospel of Jesus Christ preached on the theme: “Divine Solution”, reached 3,000-4,000 people every day throughout the crusade. In his closing message, the Douala-based preacher said the Church cannot endeavour to be indifferent while the destiny of people is at stake. He encouraged them to receive Jesus Christ in their lives, the divine solution to all their problems.
The crusade also stemmed international artistes and local gospel singers at the Bepanda Camtel premises. Nigerian gospel hip-hop singer, Young Talented, entertained throughout the crusade. The Cameroonian duet, Princess Felicia and Evangelist Awabi, received standing ovations from the mammoth crowd as they took their soul-touching debut album “Change My Story” to the stage.
