This was one of the four resolutions they presented through the National Youth Council during the closing ceremony of the first edition of the National Youth Forum presided at by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang yesterday Wednesday February 8.
To the Public Sector, the youths recommended that special counters be created in the Farmers’ Bank and the Bank for Small and Medium Size enterprises to cater for the financing of their projects. They also called for measures to facilitate their access to landed property. To the Private Sector, they recommended that enterprises be effectively committed to the alternative training of youths and be compelled to systematically grant student internships.
Praising the participants and all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the forum, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Dr Bidoung Mkpatt echoed President Paul Biya’s call to youths to innovate, create and show proof of courage, ethics, integrity and justice. “What we need today for development are enterprising youth, with good cultural and technical know-how,” he said.
The ceremony also saw the award of the sums of FCFA two million per region for the dissemination of the lessons of the forum as well as FCFA 2,5 million per region for some projects to be implemented within the framework of the 46th National Youth Day to be commemorated on Saturday, February 11.
