Family Loses Four Children in Accident in Banso

They died last week on their way to Bamenda from a memorial service in Oku in the North West.

Four young children from the same family last week died in a car crash near Banso in Bui Division of the North West Region as they were returning to Bamenda, the regional capital, after a memorial service in Oku, also in Bui Division.

Of the four who died, two were grand children of Mrs. Veronica Tata, owner of the posh car involved in the accident; while the other two were the grand children of her sister and brother. According to reports, Mrs. Tata had travelled to Oku for the memorial service of her mother. After a successful celebration, she decided to return to Bamenda in a posh car received from her son in Europe. Kind-hearted, she offered a lift to a friend to Bamenda alongside her four grand children.

The road from Oku is hilly and has deep valleys on each side. An eye witness says the driver of the posh car drove straight into one of them and all four children died on the spot. One of the victims sustained injuries on the forehead and is undergoing treatment at Mbingo Annex Health Centre, Bamenda.

However, Mrs. Tata Veronica and her friend survived the accident; though the car is said to be completely damaged.
