Fresh Blood in NUDP Wings

Clotilde Mbezele and Elvis Ndansi Nukam were elected on Monday in Yaounde.

The National Chairman of the National Union for Democracy and Progress (NUDP), Bello Bouba Maïgari, has lauded the objectivity and democracy that reign in the party while urging newly elected presidents of the women and youth wings of the party to keep the flames of the party burning. Clotilde Mbezele was re-elected president of the Movement of Women for Democracy and Progress while Elvis Ndansi was chosen to lead the Movement of Youths for Democracy and Progress.

The election at the Yaounde Conference Centre on February 20 marked the end of the fifth congress of the NUDP that also saw the re-election of Bello Bouba Maïgari as National Chairman. 28-year-old visionary Elvis Ndansi Nukam says empowering youths for the country’s socio-political and economic growth remains his goal. He told the press after his election that his road map stems from encouraging and galvanising supporters of the party to register massively for upcoming legislative and municipal elections attracting youths into politics and to be more industrious.

With the new command baton, 56-year-old retired civil servant, Clotilde Mbezele, is set to empower women in the party and also to sensitise and win more supporters for the party, especially as the country braces up for municipal and council elections. The youth wing has 35 members in the Steering Committee while the newly elected president can propose 15 others to the National Chairman of the party for approval. The women’s wing on its part has 50 members in the Steering Committee.
