Profile: Elvis Ndansi Nukam, Visionary NUDP Youth Wing Leader

The 28-year old says empowering youths for socio-political and economic growth remains his goal.

At first glance, he appears to be a man who is loved by all around him. Twenty eight-year old Elvis Ndansi Nukam is the new leader of the youth wing of the National Union for Democracy and Progress (NUDP), elected on February 20, 2012 in Yaounde at the end of the fifth ordinary congress of the party. As he beamed with joy after being elected for the coveted post he has always aimed for, so did the people around him.

His active involvement in political issues earned him the crown. Elvis Ndansi recounted to Cameroon Tribune how he was lured into the NUDP party in 2006 after graduating from the University of Buea. The democracy in the party encouraged him to be active. He was proposed candidate in the 2007 legislative election at 24, though luck did not smile on him.

This, according to him, was not any failure but a warning to work harder for the party so as to conquer the world. The Founder of Unite for health Foundation, who doubles as the Divisional Coordinator of the NUDP in the Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region is poised to empower youths of the party in general for the socio-political and economic growth of the country. The head of the campaign team at the October 9 Presidential poll for the party and former member of the Youth Bureau sees NUDP as a party with one of the best open door policies that highly favour youths who are daring to grow in politics. Hard work at the level of the grassroots remains his modus operandi.

Born in Misaje, headquarters of the Misaje Sub-division of the Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region, the newly elected President for the Movement for Youths for Democracy and Progress, of the UNDP has a road map that stems from encouraging and galvanising supporters of the party to registering massively for upcoming legislative and municipal elections, attracting youths into politics and to be more industrious.
