The police say it was in reprisal for the ex-convict’s jailing.

It all started at 8:30 pm on Saturday when a gang of thieves invited their colleague whose names CAMNEWS got as Talla Caesar. They told him to meet them at El-blanker, a famous drinking spot in Fiango Kumba. But Caesar least imagined that he was soon going to lose his life. The gang, according to eye witness accounts, fell on Talla with machetes and slaughtered him like a cow, inflicting five cuts on the head and neck.

Despite these cuts, Talla did not die. Infuriated, his colleagues in crime then dragged him to somewhere in Fiango, cut off the veins behind his two legs and abandoned him in a pool of blood. For close to one hour, nobody came to his rescue in spite of his shouts for help that he was dying. Before his family and friends could come to his rescue, it was already too late. When they rushed him to hospital, he could not survive, having bled for long. He gave up the ghost immediately medics arrived with him in the theatre.

Police sources told CAMNEWS that the mastermind of Talla Caesar's killing was a certain Atabong, who was recently released from the Kumba Principal Prison. Atabong, the police said, had promised from prison that his friends should expect him back. And that he would kill all those who helped in his imprisonment. Unfortunately, he fulfilled his promise. CAMNEWS gathered that both Atabong and the deceased were said to members of the same robbery gang before the former went to jail.

Meanwhile, Atabong and six accomplices are still on the run as security forces have launched a manhunt to make sure the culprits are brought to justice.
