The gang and their accomplices, who assaulted the SGTC head office in Bali, Douala, were transferred to the Douala High Court Tuesday.
Crime, particularly burglary and armed robbery, have doubtlessly towered into a disquieting proportion. Talk about the uniqueness and completeness of insecurity in the economic capital cannot avoid the weekly frequency in which financial institutions are targeted for evil. Just Tuesday, February 28, 2012, a group of hardened criminals were nabbed by Judicial Police, following a timely assault at the head office of SGTC, when the Director of the petroleum distribution company ruffled through office papers with day’s income (banknotes) stocked nearby in a safe.
It is alleged that the armed robbers, a gang of four, with the accomplices of three private security guards who kept vigil to the office, filtered into SGTC premises like harmless men. As if within a twinkle of an eye, the armed robbers accosted the senior executive of the company at about 7 pm recently and seized his (SGTC boss) pistol as he attempted to retaliate. After hugging him to the table, other members of the group emptied the safe, took his cellular telephone, and other office valuables before escaping through the narrow detours of the Bali neighbourhood.
Judicial police reportedly mounted a 24-hour manhunt which paid off with two members of the gang arrested the following morning in the neighbourhood. Confessedly, the hardened criminals disclosed their accomplices to the investigators who were immediately picked up from various neighbourhoods. The armed robbers, namely; Gassa Houmbi, 41, Hlamma Justin, 35, and the private security guards Dimbaina Tina Pierre, 36, Hanwa Daniel, 24, as well as Sam Houna, 26, were whisked to pre-trial custody on February 28 from the Judicial Police headquarters in Bonanjo. They are expected to face charges of arsenal, among others. While other members of the gang are on their run, the security forces reported having recovered the pistol, a portion of the money, the telephone and some other booties.
