She was robbed right in her home at Odza by two people pretending to be deliverance ministers.

A married woman was on Saturday March 3, 2012 at about 3.30 pm in the Odza neighbourhood Yaounde robbed of a gas cylinder and phone in her home by a young man and woman passing for deliverance ministers.

According to the hapless woman, the ‘couple’ that was riding a motor bike, met her in town and the man immediately began prophesying to her. He reportedly started by telling the breastfeeding woman that she was currently menstruating; which was true. He then went on to inform her that she was sick and had been tied up in witchcraft, insisting that she needed urgent deliverance.

Apparently encouraged by the woman’s growing interest, the fake ministers of God offered to carry out the deliverance in her home the same day. The woman then joined them on the motor bike and they all headed for Odza, about 6 km away on the way to the Nsimalen-Yaounde International Airport.

On arriving home, the woman opened the door and they entered and sat down. The fake pastors then asked if there was a stream around as the deliverance session entailed praying near flowing water. The still unsuspecting woman pointed to the stream below their home and the couple told her to get a Bible, then go and pray there alone while they wait for her return to complete the deliverance in the house. The poor woman left them in the house alone and went down to the stream to pray.

On her return, she discovered that the ‘deliverance ministers’ had vanished along with her gas cylinder which they disconnected from the cooker. They also collected her phone that was left on the table. She immediately flagged down a commercial motor bike and started pursuing them with her baby, to no avail. An eye witness told Cameroon Tribune that he was drinking in a bar by the main road when he suddenly saw a man and woman on a motor bike riding at break neck speed as they came out from the neighbourhood. The lady was carrying a gas cylinder on her laps,.

The robbed woman narrated to curious onlookers how her husband had repeatedly warned her never to pay attention to stories of bewitchment and deliverance. Fortunately for her, she did not leave her baby behind in going to pray at the stream.
