One of the major attractions of preparations for the 27th International Women’s Day was the trade fair at the May 20 Avenue in Yaounde. The four-day event was organised by the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family to give women the chance to showcase their talents.
This year’s event was massively attended by women of all walks of life, displaying skills in diverse domains notably, arts and crafts, agriculture, sewing, health, food, education, among others. From the different exhibitions, women once more proved that they are a force to reckon with as far as national development is concerned.
Rev. Sister Agnes Felicité of Mana Cameroun said her association processes different fruits into juice and wine. The products are sold locally at affordable prices, she said. The Natural Art association on the other hand produces decorations such as wall charts and flower jars from a tree back known as Obom.
One of the stands that easily caught the attention of the public was that of female prisoners who exhibited dyed bed sheets, bread bags, table cloth, kitchen gloves, dresses, tee shirts, among others.
