The new Governor of the North Region leaves the central administration back to the field.

“I want to first of all express my gratitude to the Head of State for the confidence he gave me. I promise to do everything not to betray the confidence,” Otto Wilson Joseph, the new Governor of the North Region appointed by the Head of State, Paul Biya on March 14, 2012 told Cameroon Tribune yesterday in Yaounde.

Before his appointment, Otto Wilson Joseph, who hails from Isangele, Bakassi Peninsular in the Ndian Division of South West Region, was the Inspector General in the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation in charge of Elections. Born on March 19, 1964 in Douala, Otto Wilson pursued studies up to postgraduate level in Economics, specializing in the Economy of Enterprises. He graduated from the then University of Yaounde in 1987 and got admission into the Yaounde National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM) the same year. He graduated from ENAM in 1989 and joined the administrative services.

Otto Wilson Joseph who is waiting to take up the new function of the Governor of the North Region has a rich experience in administration. He ascended the administrative ladder starting from the post of Second Assistant Senior Divisional Officer for the Dja et Lobo in Sangmelima from March 1991 to April 1993, First Assistant Divisional Officer for Kupe-Muanenguba from April 1993 to December 1993 after which he was appointed the Sub-divisional Officer for Upper Bayang in Manyu Division where he worked up to October 1995. Otto Wilson became Senior Divisional Officer from October 1995 and worked in Boyo, Manyu, Lebialem, Meme and Mayo Kani Divisions until his appointment as Inspector General in charge of Elections in MINATD in June 2010. He is married and has five children.
