Moroccan Ambassador in MINPMEESA

Discussions between the two sides held on tuesday 19, 2012

The Minister of Small and Medium-size Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicraft, Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa yesterday March 19, 2012 in Yaounde received the Moroccan Ambassador to Cameroon, Lahcen Saile.

The audience fell within the framework of efforts to re-dynamise and promote the agreement between Cameroon and Morocco in the area of handicraft and funding of small and medium-size enterprises, SMEs. According to the Minister, Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria are countries where small and medium size enterprises are well developed and Cameroon can emulate their examples.

Last year, Cameroon signed a handicraft agreement with Morocco that is yet to be finalized. It is for this reason that Lahcen Saile came to remind the Minister of the agreement that has to be finalized in the next joint commission meeting between the two countries in Yaounde.

The Minister said Cameroon will be glad to share in Morocco’s experience. “Given that Morocco has a long and successful history in small and medium size enterprises, Cameroon stands to benefit from their experience,” the Minister said. The agreement comes at a time when the President has created a National Fund for Small and Medium-size Enterprises that is expected to go operational soon.
