FECASDEP Reinforces Management Skills

A seminar for regional trainers and administrators took place in Yaounde from April 5th to 7th.

The embryonic Cameroon federation for the physically handicapped, FECASDEP, from April 5th to 7th at the campus of the Mervick college in Yaounde, organized a seminar for some 25 trainers and administrators from the regional leagues on how to deal with physically handicapped athletes. According to the President of FECASDEP, Ngoyo Ngon Hervé, the seminar is aimed at jump starting the activities of the young federation.

Participants were presented new sports disciplines for handicapped athletes and the curriculum centered on the learning of handisport, the fundamentals of handisport and educational talks. They were edified on issues such as the practical organization of Paralympics, the place of the law in handicapped sports, the impact of sports activities on handicapped athletes as well as stamping out drug abuse in sports.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the representative of the Minister of Sports and Physical Education congratulated FECASDEP for the initiative and promised government’s support. It is worthy to note that one athlete from the federation has qualified for the upcoming Paralympic Games in London. The athlete got the qualification during a competition in Dubai.
