The theme of the lecture was “Evolution of the ophthalmology profession: How to obtain certificates through “Validation des Acquis de l’Experience.” Speaking at the occasion, a representative of the Ministry of Public Health, Sylvain Elono, hailed the initiative which enables ophthalmologists in Cameroon to receive recognised certificates that enable them to conform to the law governing the profession in Cameroon.
The President of the Cameroon Society of Ophthalmology (ONOC), Théodore Mbega called on the students to continue training in order to conform to the law. Partnerships between ONOC and the Paris Academy began in 2006. Ever since, 65 ophthalmologists have been trained and 30 have received their certificates. The training lasts two years.
