MINSEP Receives Venezuelan Ambassador

Both men explored avenues for bilateral cooperation.

There is no respite for the new Venezuelan ambassador to Cameroon. Shortly after presenting the advanced copy of his letters of credence to the Minister of External Relations, Daniel Cartaya Laya yesterday paid a working visit to the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Adoum Garoua to explore avenues for bilateral cooperation in the domain of sports. The Venezuelan ambassador said sports is very important in that it provides a platform for the meeting of cultures. More so, he said, Cameroon was known in South America through sports and Venezuelans love the Cameroon national football team, the Indomitable Lions. He disclosed that Venezuela will like to establish joint programmes with Cameroon so that athletes and officials from both countries can benefit from training programmes as well as exchange visits in a bid to foster south-south cooperation. He extended the greetings of the Venezuelan people and their president, Hugo Chavez to the Cameroonian people and President Paul Biya. The Minister of Sports and Physical Education said Cameroon is a land of peace and hospitality and that Cameroon is open to fruitful bilateral relations with Venezuela especially in the domain of sports. Cameroon and Venezuela, he said, could be pace setters in fostering relations between Africa and South America.
