Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai wants preparations to match with event-to-be.

Fourteen South West Sub commissions preparing for celebrations to mark the 50^th anniversary of Reunification of Cameroon have presented their action plans to the South West Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai.

Chairpersons of the Regional Coordination Sub Commission presented their reports in a five-hour meeting held at the Regional Delegation of the Public Service 13^th April.

Projects to be realized before the ceremony comes up include rehabilitation of streets, street lights, water schemes and more particularly the creation of and improvement of existing roads to and from Buea. Great Soppo Market causing traffic congestion and being an eye-sore will be demolished. Improvement of the drainage system, dumping site, provision of more trash cans in Buea are earmarked.

Each of the Sub Commissions action plan that were announced carried projects that were estimated to cost colossal sums. In view of the above, the Governor told Sub Commission Chairpersons to state the sources of revenue to sponsor the projects. Where the chairpersons could not state the sources of revenue, they simply said “hierarchy will provide” – there was broad smile from the powers that be.

Six Senior Divisional Officers of the Region tabled the plights of their people of their areas of jurisdictions. An elaborate media plan to be in conformity hierarchy for a successful celebration was unfolded by Enoh Christ Oben, the Regional Delegate of Communication, Chairman of communication sub commission.

Some of the Sub Commissions included finance, security, movement, hygiene, health, cultural manifestation, conferences, seminars and debates. The lodging Sub Commission harped on the rehabilitation of the Buea Mountain Hotel, Parliamentarian Flats, Bay and Atlantic Beach Hotels.

While opening the South West Coordination Sub Commission meeting, Governor Okalia Bilai told participants to guard against being derailed from the real motive of the event so as to forge ahead for a successful celebration. He reminded them to keep going while waiting for the means to come by.
