SOPECAM Staff Feast In Conviviality

The SOPECAM family gathered on May 1, 2012 at the head office after the march past.

Workers of the National News and Publishing Corporation, SOPECAM, have pledged their support to the management of the entreprise and submission to discipline so as to ensure that SOPECAM accomplishes its march towards modernity.

The celebration of the 126th Labour Day yesterday, May 1, 2012 in the head office of the company situated at the Old Airport Road Mvan, offered an opportunity to the staff delegates’ spokesman, Nsangou Salifou, to acknowledge management’s efforts towards ensuring the well-being of workers. “SOPECAM is doing well thanks to improved working conditions, the General Manager’s listening ear, continuous training of personnel, creation of a staff association and health insurance,” he said. He later listed a number of grievances that included regularisation of overtime payments and the regular tenure of staff advancements and reclassification sessions.

In response, the General Manager of SOPECAM, Marie Claire Nnana, thanked the staff for adhering to the project to modernise the company and invited them to keep the cult of quality, the obligation of results and the fight against the culture of fraud. Dwelling on the theme of the Day, “Tripartite Discussion and Social Cohesion”, Marie Claire Nnana invited the staff to show proof of solidarity, patience and the preservation of social cohesion to enhance not only national development but also the development of the company. “We will continue to preserve social dialogue. Rome was not built in a day,” she said. She further thanked the Head of State, Paul Biya, for providing FCFA three billion to purchase new printing machines within the framework of a reconstruction project launched in 2010 and estimated to cost FCFA eight billion.

The graceful presence of SOPECAM’s Board Chair, Joseph LE, and the Resident Representative of African Computer Institute, IAI, Armand Claude Abanda, coloured the event that also saw the award of gifts to staff due retirement, cash prizes to the best staff of each department, as well as the presentation of a football trophy recently won by the SOPECAM male football team. To the latter, Board Chair Joseph LE donated the sum of FCFA 250,000 to celebrate the victory. Gospel singer, John du Chant and the traditional dance group Adou Yayé provided musical interludes to the event that ended with a sumptuous buffet and more dancing.
