Nicolas Nkoulou Out Of Congo Encounter

The Vice Captain of the Indomitable Lions suffered an injury that will keep him off the pitch for four weeks.

The number of players to defend the national colours in the campaign for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and 2014 World Cup continue reducing as the days go by. After Stephane Mbia, Nicolas Nkoulou considered as the backbone of the Cameroonian defence, also suffered an injury that will keep him out of football pitches for at least four weeks. The injuries greatly reduces the options of coach, Denis Lavagne in this crucial month of June when Cameroon will be playing three decisive matches in the qualifiers for the 2013 AFCON in South and 2014 World Cup in Brazil, mindful of the fact that the captain, Eto’o Fils and vice, Eyong Enow are under suspension.

Meanwhile so much water has gone under the bridge ever since the encounter against Guinea Bissau. Two committees have come up, one calling for the redress of Cameroonian football and the other to preserve it. The Committee for the Redress of Cameroonian football jointly headed by Roger Milla and Emmanuel Mve, who have been clamouring for the departure of current management staff of Fecafoot, have published a list of home-based coaches, who they consider to be more qualified to train the Lions than Denis Lavagne.

A planned meeting by the Minister of Sports and Physical with some emblematic players of the squad in Paris flopped and unconfirmed sources says orders have been given from the highest quarters for tender offer to be launched towards the recruitment of a new and befitting coach for the Indomitable Lions. The ongoing wrangling pollutes the atmosphere around the Lions at a time when the Lions have to play three decisive matches within the space of a month. The Lions play against the Democratic republic of Congo on June 2nd and against Libya on June 9th for the qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup. On June 19th the will play against Guinea Bissau in the return leg of the 2013 AFCON qualifiers.

In a related development, the Fecafoot general assembly has been scheduled for May 16, during which some reforms are expected notably the implementation of the FIFA recommendation that only the only professional association to have a seat in the general assembly should be that of footballers. Rumours hold that some members like Roger Milla and David Mayebi who are at loggerheads with the president of Fecafoot, will be expelled from the association.
