The rehabilitation of some roads in Bonanjo, Douala is adding to the traffic congestion in the area.

Razel Construction Company is carrying out a 200-metre rehabilitation on Rue des Impôts road in Bonanjo, Douala. The work that has been going on for some time is creating much gridlock in that part of the neighborhood.

According to the field engineer, Alain, the work that began recently faced some hurdles and came to a standstill. The problems, he said, have been resolved and work has resumed. The engineer explained that the movements of vehicles and pedestrians is slowing down the pace of work since the road cannot be blocked to traffic.

The digging and building of gutters on the road as well as a pedestrian walk is going on. “When all this is over, we will begin rehabilitating the road,” he explained. The engineer said they intended to use the public holiday yesterday Thursday to do their work easily and faster because the roads will be blocked. When work resumes today, Friday, the public will meet the road already blocked. The end of the works has been slated for early June.
