The security officers graduated from the Judicial Police Training Centre on Wednesday.

The Judicial Police Training Centre, CPPJ, of the National Gendarmerie in Yaounde has graduated 24 out of 25 non-commissioned officers from the National Gendarmerie and the National Police Force.

The 27th batch of criminal investigation directors received their end of course testimonials in a ceremony that was presided by the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Defence in charge of the Gendarmerie, Jean Baptiste Bokam, on Wednesday May 16, 2012 in Yaounde. Several partners from the French Embassy and human rights organisations attended the ceremony.

The six-week training that started on April 16, 2012 recorded a 96 per cent success rate. It was based on theoretical and practical lessons tailored to enable the students carry out criminal investigations while respecting human rights.

Jean Baptiste Bokam commended the French Embassy for the technical assistance and underscored the importance of the training in the on-going modernisation of the Cameroonian Army initiated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Paul Biya. He advised the course participants to respect values such as respect for hierarchy, implementation of legal rules, commitment and team spirit as rules of engagement in order to fight crime efficiently.
