A 17 year-old girl by name Florence T.N is currently under custody at the gendarmerie station in the Mendong neighbourhood in Yaounde after being arrested for killing her own baby, minutes after delivery. Florence, who was a domestic servant in a house around the Biyem-Assi Superette neighbourhood, was heavily pregnant and expected to give birth at any time. Some weeks back, it is said that Florence abandoned her workplace and headed for an unknown destination. The resident of the house decided to look for another house-help who started working immediately. Later, the household could not bear the odious smell of something nobody could identify. In trying to search the entire house, they discovered a new- born baby which had been killed, wrapped in a bed sheet and put underneath a bed. It is said that Florence might have hit the head of the baby against a wall in a bid to kill him. The Mendong gendarmerie is currently investigating the matter.
