CPDM Encourages Anti-corruption Fight In South West

Chief Joseph Dion Ngute led a Central Committee team to Buea.

A delegation from the Central Committee of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) held an explanatory and sensitization seminar in the South West Regional capital, Buea, under the chairmanship of Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute.

In his introductory statement, Chief Dion Ngute explained “Our mission was at the behest of the CPDM National President, Paul Biya, who mandated the Secretary General of the Party to organize explanatory and sensitization seminars in all the 10 regions for local party officials”. The mission of the Central Committee delegation was to explain the new basic text of the party the new electoral code and to elucidate on the current events marked by the recent anti-corruption arrests

Dion Ngute said the congress put the party on its rails and also confirmed the maturity, democratisation and vitality of the CPDM to forge a new beginning. He recalled that the general policy speech of their national President to that congress must henceforth remain a reference document and be one of the texts that govern party action. As a point of major interest, the speaker reminded that the congress opened future elections of local party authorities to the entire militancy of the jurisdiction and no longer limits it to an electoral college again.

On the new electoral code, Benjamin Itoe, a member of the Central Committee delegation rejoiced that it consecrated the independence of the election organizing and managing body, ELECAM. On the recent anti-corruption arrests, the speaker reiterated that it was important for militants to know the party’s position and to know the attitude to be adopted towards such situations. He called on supporters not to contradict themselves with the National Chairman’s wrestle against embezzlement of public funds and corruption.
