New Gendarmerie Radars To Reinforce Road Safety

The equipment will help to reduce accidents on highways in the country.

The National Gendarmerie has received six new road safety radars to help in reducing speed, loss of lives and other damage on highways in the country. The radars that were offered by Lasser Technology USA were received at the courtyard of the Gendarmerie Instruction Centre in Yaounde on Tuesday June 5.

Speaking during the occasion, Brigadier General, Daniel Elokobi Ndjock said the National Gendarmerie now has better radars. The Director of Lasser Technology Europe/Africa, Frank Margerin said the radars can work under normal conditions both day and night.

The new radars were acquired within the framework of strengthening the capacity of gendarmes on road safety. Each radar is multifunctional and has a camera which enables it to carry out different tasks such as measuring speed (320km/h maximum), capturing of images and storage of data on a memory card of four Gigabits which could later be exploited in a computer.
