The Lions left for Tunisia on Monday to prepare for the encounter against Libya next Sunday.

There will be no respite for the Lions during the month long recess as they are engaged in both the qualifiers for the 2013 AFCON and 2014 World Cup. After the victory against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have now turned their attention towards the upcoming encounter against Libya also counting for the qualifying series of the 2014 World Cup to take place in Brazil.

The Lions left Yaounde on Monday late in the evening for Sousse-Tunisia where they are training train ahead of the encounter against Libya next Sunday. The Lions leave the seaside town of Sousse for the venue of the event in Sfax on the eve of the encounter on Saturday. The match was moved to Tunisia due to the political instability that North African country and may have to be played behind closed gates.

All 26 players called to camp for the encounter against the Democratic Republic of Congo, will be making the trip to Tunisia with coach, Denis Lavagne hoping to benefit from the services of injured players like Nkoulou, Eyong Tarkang and Gaetang Bong. Meanwhile, the Lions have received a great psychological boost with the official signing of the contract of the technical staff of the squad yesterday by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Adoum Garoua.

The minister, who had been reluctant to officially endorse Denis Lavagne’s appointment, was probably motivated by the victory of the Lions over the Leopards which was the fifth in a row since he took over office. The decision was predictable given that Adoum Garoua had earlier argued against the change of coaches deep into the qualifying series for the 2013 AFCON and 2014 World Cup.

After the encounter against Libya next Sunday, the lions will return to the country to brace up for the return leg qualifier for the 2013 AFCON against Guinea Bissau. Though the Lions did the essential by obtaining victory against the D.R. Congo, certain loopholes still persist in the squad which Denis Lavagne promised to mend before the next matches against Libya and Guinea conscious of the fact that there is no room for error as the threat of dismissal hangs over him like the axe of Damocles.
