Chinese Ambassador Discusses Projects At Unity Palace

The Head of State His Excellency Paul BIYA has had discussions with the Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon on several issues relating to cooperation between the two countries and ways to carry out projects that will impact the lives of Cameroonians. The discussions took place during an audience granted to Ambassador XUE JINWEI on 27 April 2012.

This Friday afternoon, the President of the Republic granted audience to the Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon, XUE JINWEI, for over one hour. Speaking to the press immediately afterwards, the Chinese diplomat stated that they had made a general review of the excellent and friendly cooperation ties that bind the two countries. He said that the discussions also focused on the state visit which President Paul BIYA paid to China last year.

The Chinese Ambassador and President Paul BIYA talked at length on the major projects that are being constructed in the country, especially the Kribi deep seaport project.

The Chinese Ambassador made it known that the President of the Republic is eager to have this project realised on time and is satisfied with the support that China is giving to see it done on time. They also discussed the Douala–Yaoundé highway project, which will enable a better traffic flow between the two cities.

Ambassador XUE JINWEI revealed that the cooperation ties between the two countries will intensify, as the two countries seek to implement projects that will improve the wellbeing of Cameroonians, notably in agriculture, water supply, health, etc. In this wise, he declared that many new projects will soon be announced.
