SOPECAM confirmed her hegemony over the football championship for companies and ministerial departments on Saturday by beating the team from FEICOM 1-0 on the opening day of the championship on Saturday at the Presidential Guard playground in Obili-Yaounde. The score does not reflect the physiognomy of the match given that SOPCAM dominated the encounter from the beginning to the end but failed to materialise the several chances they created upfront. They were only able to break the deadlock from the penalty spot through Owona Ze less than ten minutes to the end of the encounter.

The encounter was witnessed by the Mayor of Yaounde II council, Luc Assamba who is the president of the Corpos/veteran commission at Fecafoot, the new regional president for corpos/veterans, Ange Sama who equals heads the Republican association for the Defence of Cameroonian football. Ange Sama appreciated the level of play saying SOPECAM merited the victory though FEICOM put up a heroic fight at the defence.
