It’s Cartoons Time for Kids

Within the Ecrans Noirs festival, children are having a wonderful time watching cartoons and films.

Over 50 kids in Yaounde had fun yesterday, July 2, during the morning hours at the French Institute in Cameroon (IFC), watching captivating cartoons and films mostly meant for kids of their ages. The organisers of the 2012 Ecrans Noirs Festival had three short best films for the children. As the kids watched: “Duo de Volaille Sauce Chasseur” of Pascal Hecquet, “Cirage” of Christophe Tardy and “Corrida” of Janis Cimermanis, they laughed and giggled each time they saw and heard the laughter from the characters.

In the film, “Cirage” by Christophe Tardy, the kids watched how a young Senegalese shoe polisher sees a client lose a bank note in front of him. He decides to pick the money and returns it to the owner. But the client decides to leave him with the money which he makes good use of. The kids enjoyed the amusing and animated film, “Corrida” by Janis Cimermanis about the dangers of bullfighting and the power of women. The children might not have understood the meaning of the film but certainly enjoyed the actions between the beautiful flamenco dancer, a toreador and a bull. In the film, the bull does not want to die and chases the toreador through the town and into the countryside until he escapes up a tree. But how on earth will the toreador ever get down again with the beast eyeing him from below? Thank goodness for mobile phones – and a rescue crew from Latvia.

The children also had an amusing time watching “Duo de Volaille” which is about life and death between a hunter and prey. Today, the kids will not only have time to ask questions about what they watched yesterday, but will also have the opportunity to watch other films best suited for their ages.
