Kumba I Council Strives For Greater Achievements

Kumba (Meme):- Councillors of the Kumba I Council headed by Prince Ekalle Mukete are bent on employing all strategies to carry the Council forward.

They met on June 29, 2012 for the examination and adoption of the council's administrative, management and stores account, aimed at fostering the council’s development strides. The session was chaired by the Senior Divisional Officer for Meme, Koulbout Aman David.

In his welcome note, Mayor Ekalle Mukete used the forum to announce some groundbreaking projects which the council has shortlisted for the nearest future. He explained that the council has opted to renovate the former Divisional Office at Kumba Town Roundabout, which feasibility studies estimate the cost close to CFA 10 million francs. Also, he said the project at hand is the construction of a multipurpose commercial center at the former Taxation Office.

Presiding over the event, Koulbout Aman David, discernibly told the Councilors to instill a spirit of orderliness and handwork. He cautioned them avoid voting unrealistic or high budget, and to always identify their revenue collectors by giving them badges to combat the works of imposters. The SDO urged the Municipal Treasurer to create more sources of revenue alongside ensuring that the collected revenue goes into the council's coffers.“Any embezzler of council funds will face the ugly side of the law'', was his end note.

The sitting was marked by deliberations on the documents presented to the councilors for examination and adoption. After close to four hours deliberation, the administrative, management and stores accounts of the Kumba I Council was unanimously adopted at over CFA 854 million francs; being CFA 175million francs as realization, constituting 20.7 percent. During discussions, top on the chart was the road network. The Mayor assured the councillors that in the days ahead, much will be done towards the amelioration of the road network, especially the case of the Barombi Mbo road. He said it is this projects falls within the platform of roads to be ameliorated by the City Council as part of the Reunification celebrations program. He concluded that he will be dragging the Kumba City Council to the administrative court in the days ahead for better clarification of the council text.
