Maiden visit of the 14th Governor of the North West discovers the heights and depths of the land.

Adolhpe Lele Lafrique Deben Tchoffo, the new Governor of the North West Region has completed a tour of all the seven divisions of the North West with landmark visits to the enclaved areas of the region. The governor was out to discover the heights and depths of the region as he travelled discovering areas with difficult access roads and border areas like Ako in Donga Mantung and Baworo in Menchum Divisions. He also travelled to far away Sabongari and took time off to listen to the preoccupations of the population grappling with issues of poverty, unemployment, land disputes, succession, farmer/grazer problems, insecurity, violence etc. Governor Lele Lafrique Deben Tchoffo Adolphe braved the rough and rugged roads to Abuenshie, and Baworo, business areas that open into the Cameroon/Nigeria border. On the banks of river Abong which separates Cameroon from Nigeria, the Governor sized up flourishing economic activities between both countries with a lot to see in oranges, white yams and other goods in circulation. . It was a rare moment for Governor Lele Lafrique to preach peace and commitment to the nation.

Ngoketungia’s rice fields also featured prominently during the contact tour while Momo Division took the governor along the new Bamenda-Batibo- Mamfe-Ekok-Nigeria trans African highway. He also sized up the level of construction work on the Bamenda-Mbengwi road with a message of hope for inhabitants who are at a loss why it is taking too long for the contractor to complete work and give chance to circulation without speed brakes. In Menchum where violence was identified as one of the major setbacks to development in Menchum Valley Sub division, the Governor also brought hope to inhabitants with a message that the defunct Wum Area Development Authority (WADA) will be revived. Bui, the land of culture and tradition and home to late Prof. Bernard Fonlon and P.M, Yang Philemon also welcomed him while Boyo, home of the legendary Afo-a-Kom had a mix of tarred and ugly feeder roads to show. Mezam, with Bamenda as the capital of the division and Region featured challenges of City crime staring inhabitants on the face. Mezam is also about disorder in business activities and Commercial motorcycles at the centre of most accidents following the uncivilized attitudes of their riders.

Governor Lele Lafrique Deben Tchoffo travelled with a message that should help clean the society of corruption by protecting public funds and assets. He urged elite to enlighten the population and said the inordinate ambitions of some elite must be checked to give harmony and development a chance. In the backdrop of complaints against regular electricity blackouts that jeopardise economic activities, the Governor reassured that ongoing investments in the sector, plus the Bamenda thermal plant will soon overcome the problems of blackouts in the Region. He urged traditional leaders to be role models in nobility and agents of peace and development. Lele Lafrique appealed to inhabitants to dissociate from irresponsible calls that threaten social peace. Curtains dropped on the nine-day contact tour on July 5th, 2012.
