Norms & Quality: ANOR Drills Enterprises on ISO 9001

The capacity-building workshop held in Yaounde last Thursday July 19.

Cameroon’s Standards and Quality Agency (ANOR) last Thursday July 19 schooled officials of some 12 enterprises in the country on the fundamentals of the ISO 9001 on quality management system. The one-day workshop at the Yaounde Djeuga Palace sought to build the capacities of the enterprises so that they would in turn carry the message to their respective enterprises for change to be visible in the continual battle to institute the respect of norms and quality in the country. This, in a bid to sustain modernity, in which standards are a tool of trade regulation, consumer protection and environmental preservation.

Speaking during the workshop, Emmanuel Touji, Director of Promotion and Assistance at ANOR, said the workshop was in line with ANOR’s roadmap which consists in promoting standards and quality in the country, ensuring the respect of norms drawn up in line with international rules. The participants from public and Para-public enterprises gained knowledge on the ISO 9001 whose respect is expected to step up their competitiveness both in national and international markets. The training consisted in the history of norms and quality, Cameroon’s normalisation system, the putting in place of ISO 9001 as well as certification and their advantages. The workshop was in line with the Prime Ministerial Circular of 2010 on the drawing up of national standardisation programmes.
