Mewoli Abdon, a 60-kg Cameroonian boxer at the London 2012 Olympic Games has been eliminated from the competition. Boxing at the Excel South Arena 2, Hyacinthe Mewoli Abdon was overpowered by Uzbekistan’s Fazlidden Gaibnazaroy 6-11 in a tight first round that ended with the judges scoring the bout evenly.
During the second bout, Mewoli came up strong but lost concentration at midway with Gaibnazarov capitalizing. As the minutes ebbed, the 21-year old Uzbek athlete bobbed in and out of the range, tempting the Cameroonian 60-kg athlete into an attack before dodging and countering. The Uzbek’s tactics proved very fruitful as he took and maintained the lead to the end of the fight.
Away from boxing, the Lionesses of Cameroon are already in Coventry where they are expected to clash against New Zealand at the Coventry Stadium. Reports from the Lionesses’ dent say the girls are waxing strong with no case of injury recorded.
