Australian Couple Duped at London Olympics

A British man has donated some of his Olympic Games tickets to an Australian couple tricked by fraudsters. Ann and Graham Smith had traveled thousands of miles from Australia hoping to watch the events in London. But they were left devastated after discovering on arrival that their tickets to the Boxing play ground were fake. They had not realised they had purchased the tickets from a bogus website. After reading about their ordeal, a London man came to their rescue and offered them his tickets.

Thieves in the Olympic Village

Bradley Wiggins, the British cyclist champion has warned of thieves who have apparently struck the London 2012 Olympic cycling team’s hotel. The first British winner of the Tour de France warned said kleptos seems to have infiltrated the village.  In a message posted to more than 318,000 followers on Sunday night, the athlete wrote on the micro-blogging site. “Watch your kit.

Iranians Accused Boxing Referee

Iran's boxing federation are accussed boxing referees of match fixing. Heavyweight boxer, Ali Mazaheri cried foul when he was disqualified after being warned three times for persistent holding against Cuban Jose Larduet Gomez despite leading by two points. The International Amateur Boxing Association responded to Mazaheri's allegations by saying the Iranian boxer received three warnings during his bout. According to Rule 12.2.1 of the AIBA Technical and Competition Rules, only three warnings may be given to the same boxer in one contest. The third warning brings automatic disqualification.

Japan’s Match Fixing

Japan women's football coach Norio Sasaki has admitted that he told his players not to win their final group-stage match against last-place South Africa. But they should go in for a draw instead which they got as the match ended 0-0. This helped his side to finish second in Group F and remain in Cardiff for its quarterfinal match against Brazil instead of travelling 400 miles to Glasgow.

Eight Badminton Players Expelled

The World Badminton Federation has expelled eight players out of the Games for match fixing. Four pairs in the women’s doubles were disqualified from the Olympics for underperforming in the final group stages on Tuesday night as they deliberately tried to lose by spraying shots wide or into the net to secure an easier quarter-final draw. The players are from Chinese and South Korea.
