“Boxing is not An Exact Science”, Justine Tchuem, Essomba’s Trainer

It is a very disappointing day for me and all Cameroonians, fans and supporters. We prepared hard for this fight but you know sports especially boxing is not an exact science. There are days that you step from the ring smiling and days that you leave disappointed. We need to prepare well before competitions like this because the talent and physic is there what we need is the technique and tactical preparation”

“Determination was not Enough”

Serge Abomo, 64kg light welterweight boxer.

“We came in with very high morals to defend the colours of our country. But our determination was not enough because it is a high level competition. Only those who prepare well mount the podium. So I am begging on the different stakeholders to start preparing the athletes for 2016 now”

“We did not Prepare Long Enough”

Donfack Adjoufack Christian, 81kg light heavyweight boxer.

I think we did not prepare for long. You know after the qualification we went back into the quarters stayed for about two weeks doing nothing before we were called up to go an prepare in Aberdeen (Scotland). The preparation there was very good but not long enough to take us to the required level”.

“It was a Tough Competition.”

Guedia Mouafo Joyce, Cameroonian Swimmer.

“For me qualifying for the Olympic Games was a great step. It is a very tough competition. I did what I could but did not have the chance of qualifying for the next round of the competition. I scored 29 seconds, 5 more than the required 22 to move to the next round. I will continue working hard after all I am still very young all I need is opportunity to have good training and success will follow”

“I am very Disappointed”

Nzesso Ngake Dodo, Cameroon Weightlifter

“I tried my best. I did qualify first from the group stage, but was unfortunate not to be on the podium. I am very disappointed because I thought I could give my country a medal. We had a very good three weeks preparation in Aberdeen (Scotland) before moving to London. The Olympic Games are for those who start preparing early, it is not at the eve of the event. I hope in the days ahead, government will help us get good facilities. You know, it is with more training and hard work that success comes.”
