Woman Dies After Delivering Quadruplets In Tiko

Three out of the four children survived and are currently in the Buea Regional Hospital.

After a set of quintuplets in 2009, the Buea Regional Hospital Annex received a set of quadruplets on Friday August 10 after one had died.
Cameroon Tribune gathered that 35-year-old Rose Tsanga gave birth to the babies in her home in Moquo, Tiko Subdivision in the South West Region Region. It was equally reported that she never attended any clinic for antenatal care throughout her pregnancy. As such, it was only during birth that it was discovered that she was carrying a set of quadruplets.
After Tiko administrative and health officials were informed, they immediately visited Rose. Unfortunately, she had already passed away as a result of excessive bleeding, while the last child, a girl, was born dead.
When the South West Regional Delegate of Public Health, Dr. Victor Njie Mbome assessed the situation, he immediately ordered the transfer of the three other babies, two boys and one girl, to the Buea Regional Hospital Annex for medical attention. He blamed the mother’s death on neglect, given that medical attention is indispensable in any pregnancy case. The babies are fully grown and not premature.
It is worth noting that the deceased was not married and had four other children - a set of twins and two children. Meanwhile, the author of the fatal pregnancy is still unknown.
