Last weekend was bloody in the small village of Atongaeh in Fontem, Lebialem Division of the South West Region.

Four persons lost their lives. According to reports gathered from the Senior Divisional Officer for Lebialem, a young man suffering from mental disorder visited his traditional healer on Friday in the company of his sister.

Taken by a crisis of folly, he seized a machete and killed the traditional healer and his son before escaping with his sister. The population of the village launched a manhunt, caught both and delivered them to the police station in Menji.

On Sunday, a furious mob that arrived from Atongaeh village assaulted the police station where the two persons were held in custody. The crowd succeeded in taking out the patient and sister and had them lynched in mob justice.

Even the four policemen on duty could not stop the angry villagers from slaying them.
