The 30 female entrepreneurs are from the seven regions of Cameroon.
A one week workshop has been organised in Douala to train women who are entrepreneurs from the seven regions of the Country. The women who came from the southwest, Northwest, Littoral, centre, west; East and South Regions are being trained to imbibe entrepreneurial skills in controlling their businesses.
Speaking during the workshop, the Director of the Economic Advancement of the Women’s Empowerment and the Family, Dr Mrs. Margaret Niger-Thomas said the workshop is to reinforce female entrepreneurs and help them improve on their business structures. She said women lack information, they have no knowledge on accountability and some also do not know project management. So a workshop on a system, Start and Improve your business is meant to empower the women with such skills to better lead their enterprises. She stated that the economic reinforcement of the woman is an integral part in the Head of State’s vision for the nation. Niger-Thomas added that the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family with its mission to promote the economy of the woman decided on a workshop sponsored by the Female wing of the United Nation Organisation, to train 50women and the first part is training 30 women from the seven regions and the women from the three northern regions will be handled later.
The resource person, Batasi Paul said the Start and Improve your Business, known by its French acronym Germe, has three programs; to start your business, create the business and the third is the Germe. The training he said will help to standardise and produce a balanced enterprise. He said the programme is not only for women who can write because where the women cannot write they use images.
The Regional Delegate for Women’s Empowerment and the Family, Elong Emilienne Alice appreciated the women for coming and encouraged them to collaborate.
In selecting the participants Specific attention was laid on women who have no knowledge on project management. The workshop which started on the 27 will end on the 1st September.
