Eight New Agreements to Cement Cameroon-Equatorial Guinea Cooperation

Far-reaching decisions taken at the end of the eighth Joint Commission meeting August 30. Bilateral relations between Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea have witnessed yet another serious leap forward with the signing of eight new cooperation agreements at the end of the eighth session of the Cameroon-Equatorial Guinea Joint Commission that ended in Yaounde on August 30, 2012. The agreements were signed for Cameroon by the Minister of External Relations, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo and for Equatorial Guinea by the country’s Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister, Agapito Mba Mokuy.

Agreements

In the diplomatic sector, the two countries signed the agreements for the reciprocal exemption of holders of diplomatic and service or officials passports from visas; the internal rules and regulations governing the Follow-up Committee on consular and cross-border security issues and that creating the Permanent Security Mixed Commission.

Professor Moukoko Mbonjo and Agapito Mba Mokuy also signed the agreements on education and culture cooperation; promotion of the woman and gender; and cooperation in agriculture and livestock.

In the training sector, there was a partnership agreement between Cameroon’s Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reform and that of Equatorial Guinea following the terms of which, Equatorial Guinea will send officials and students for training in the Yaounde National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM). The International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC) will equally henceforth train diplomatic personnel from Equatorial Guinea following a partnership agreement between Cameroon’s Ministry of External Relations and that of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Equatorial Guinea.
