The inaugural lecture for the 2012-2013 academic year was delivered on Friday in Yaounde.

Over 564 young Cameroonians newly admitted into the National School of Administration and Magistracy, ENAM, have been lauded for showcasing merit, transparency, sincerity and propriety. They have also been told that they constitute the “Clean Bagde” of the institution by the Director General of ENAM, Mendjana Linus Toussaint during his inaugural lecture delivered in Yaounde on Friday September 14th, 2012.

Mendjana Linus Toussaint invited the freshmen to adhere to the slogan “Building the future in the present” and be guarantors of a citizen-friendly and efficient administration. He warned them to shun gifts of all sorts as well as other so-called free benefits in order not to be trapped by the cankerworm of corruption. “You are not here to serve your families but the State.”

The ceremony that also saw the handing over of the internal rules and regulations of the school to the freshmen marked their first step after a series of results of entrance competitive examinations into the Administration and Finance, Magistracy and Court Registry divisions were published. The best and exceptional students were congratulated. The freshmen left for Koutaba military base in the West Region on Saturday for a 45-day military training course.

ENAM was created in 1964 following the transformation of the Cameroonian School of Administration created in 1959. It has since trained over 9,000 senior public service staff. For the 2012-2013 academic year, the school counts 1,466 students and 324 administrative staff. Major innovations include a new restaurant, modern health unit and a multimedia centre. The best students will do internships in renowned schools of administration in Benin and France. Moreover, training in Cycle B will last two years instead of one.
