A televised fundraising gala will be organised tomorrow at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.

In the wake of recent floods that have affected several localities in the Far North, North, East and North West Regions, the Cameroon Red Cross will hold a fundraising gala tomorrow Saturday September 29 at the Warda Multipurpose Sports Complex in Yaounde.

The gala to be organised in collaboration with the Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV) to be broadcast live, is expected to raise funds to assist thousands of victims rendered homeless, jobless, hungry and sick by floods.

In effect, the months of August and September 2012 saw unprecedented levels of rainfall in several Regions of the country. From Mayo Danay Division in the Far North Region, to Benoue in the North, the town of Doume in the East and Babessi in the North West Region, thousands of homeless Cameroonians have been receiving financial, material and moral assistance from government, civil society organisations and international development partners.

In view of tomorrow’s event, the Cameroon Red Cross is appealing to people of goodwill to participate and contribute generously.
