Romeo Assu, 25, is currently being grilled for public security forces in Bonaberi. A fake military officer has been apprehended in Douala by police of the Rapid Intervention Unit (ESIR). Twenty-five-year-old Romeo Assu was seen at Mambanda in Bonaberi over the week-end illegally putting on a military uniform. From his behaviour and utterances, the police who were on patrol in the area suspected he was a false military officer.

After they approached the young man, preliminary queries proved he had no identification papers, provoking further investigations. The young man who passed for a military officer, sitting assertively on a motorbike purportedly having no acquisition documents to prove ownership, was immediately hijacked and whisked off to the Fifth District Police Station at Centre Equestre in Bonaberi. He confirmed his guilt to later interrogations for a stolen motorbike and failed to provide with exactitude the source of the military uniform and his regiment where he works. Moreover, the chassis number of the bike was falsified.

Investigators say they will soon unearth the disaster so far caused by the impostor.
