Scission in Tonnerre: Tsimi Evouna Prescribes Dialogue

This was during a reception he offered the club upon its ascension to the elite one championship.

The Government Delegate to the Yaounde City Council, Gilbert Tsimi Evouna, has added his voice to internal wrangling currently affecting the club from Mvog-Ada-Yaounde. Speaking during a reception he offered the club upon its ascension to the elite one championship at the ‘Cercle Municipal’ in Yaounde on Friday October 19th, Tsimi Evouna, a native of Yaounde, called for dialogue among the warring parties saying his reception of the Onambele Zibi faction should not be interpreted as endorsement. He said both parties should meet and dialogue with each other saying he will convene a meeting of all the elites of Yaounde to look into the problems affecting the clubs from the capital city so that serenity should reign.
After four years in the MTN Elite Two championship, Tonnerre finally made it to the Elite One Championship this year and winning the MTN Elite Two championship title in passing.
However, instead of this long awaited success bringing peace to the Tonnerre house, there has been a scission between the president of the club, Onambele Zibi and the Director General, Omgba Nsi, with the latter accusing the fore of incompetence and mismanagement. Omgba Nsi who is supported in his move by the coach, Joseph Atangana, is clamouring for an elective general assembly meeting of the club to vote out Onambele Zibi.
Meanwhile, the president, Onambele Zibi questions Omgba Nsi’s legitimacy and has threatened to drag him to court for usurpation of titles and mismanaging the gate takings of the club confided in him. Omgba Nsi also accused the president of non-payment of players’ salaries despite having received subventions from the government while Onambele Zibi attests to the contrary with documents to proof that all salaries and bonuses have been paid to players and the coach. Onambele Zibi suspects the president of the Professional League, Pierre Semengue of pulling the strings from behind in order to impose his son, Stephane Semengue as president of Tonnerre. An accusation, General Semengue has formally refuted. Both Tonnerre and Canon have been wrought by intermittent intestinal fighting in the recent past and the forum of Yaounde elites proposed by Tsimi Evouna is seen as the sesame that would remedy the problems of the mythical clubs from Yaounde.
