The Board of Directors of the University met on Friday, November 2.

Participants at the Yaounde II University’s Board of Directors meeting holding last Friday November 2 at the campus in Soa examined and adopted a revised 2012 budget of FCFA 9.8 billion, up from the FCFA 8.5 billion approved on April 16, 2012.

Sources at the University explained that the move was as a result of money allocated by the State to enable the University implement new measures taken by President Paul Biya to grant additional emoluments to support staff. The new budget which sees an increase of FCFA 1.2 billion, will be submitted to the Ministries of Higher Education and Finance, for approval.

Presided over by the Board Chair, Prof. Peter Agbor Tabi, the Board also congratulated the Rector, Prof. Oumarou Bouba and his team for negotiating and obtaining from the University of Toulouse Le Mirail in France, a gift of equipment worth FCFA 182 million for the student restaurant.

Among other issues, the Board also adopted the minutes of the April 16, 2012 Board meeting as well as the resolutions of the September 25, 2012 Board meeting.
